E*TRADE Will Support The iPad With Mobile Pro At Launch; ETFC, AAPL, OXPS

We have word this afternoon from E*TRADE (ETFC) that they plan to support Apple's (AAPL) new iPad product with their E*TRADE Mobile Pro application at launch. The iPad is scheduled to be released on April 3rd.

E*TRADE's Mobile Pro product has been highly successful. The product launched on the iPhone in June 2009. We reported in July that E*TRADE had recorded more than two million log-ins for the Mobile Pro product on the Blackberry alone.

A company spokesperson let us know that the application on the iPad is expected to closely match the features currently available on the iPhone, including:

View real-time streaming stock and options quotes
Place equity trades, including certain conditional orders
View live charts, watchlists and portfolios capabilities
View a "CompleteView" of all E*TRADE brokerage and bank accounts on one screen
Make secure transactions backed by E*TRADE’s Complete Protection Guarantee
Use CNBC Plus streaming video for Power E*TRADE customers

No word yet whether other brokers plan to support the iPad. OptionsXpress (OXPS) and Fidelity have both been aggressive with their mobile trading strategy, so we would expect to hear from them next.
